What is Considered a Fever?

What is considered a fever in medical community? The answer is: body temperature above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit is regarded as fever temperature. If the fever temperature is between 100.4 and 102.2 degree, it is considered low-grade fever and does not require medication. However, if the fever temperature rises above 102.2, it is regarded as high fever- it can be a sign of serious infection and might need medical attention.

Types of Fever

Based on their duration and temperature, there are five types of fever:

  • Intermittent fever: with temperature fluctuating between high and baseline normal throughout the day
